Introducing OZapalooza!
On September 16, Chesterton's Wizard of Oz Festival, the largest celebration of its kind in the world, is staging a new event this year that is as extravagant as its name: OZapalazza.
Co-Chair Carole Mackey comments, 'This is a first-of-its kind Oz experience! We have twelve, unique games and activities, each with a definite Oz flavor, that are sure to appeal to kids of all ages.'
Participants will be able to fill the air with Glinda's magical bubbles, step into the Tin Man's shoes, launch Winged Monkeys, consult Professor Marvel's crystal ball, melt the Wicked Witch, tidy up at the Wash & Brush Up Shoppe, pick the Witch's poppies, combat crows for the Scarecrow, join the Lion's courage competition, and create Oz puppets to perform on a real puppet stage.
Zao Island in Valparaiso, Indiana is sponsoring and hosting OZapalooza. 'An incredible destination all its own,' boasts Mackey.
A $10 per person ticket (adults and children) entitles the bearer to participate in all of the games and activities, which features one round of miniature golf at one of two Zao Island 18-hole courses. 'Don't be surprised to meet a favorite Oz character on the golf course,'chuckles Mackey.
Admission price also includes a hot dog and trimmings dinner. 'If they wish, adults may choose an entre other than a hot dog,' Mackey adds.
For additional fees, attendees can also enjoy Zao Island's other activities: Go Carts, Hardball and Softball Batting Cages, Krazy Bumber Kars, live alligators, a Wild Wave Slide, and numerous Skill and Redemption games.
OZapalooza runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zao Island, 1050 Horseprairie Avenue in Valparaiso and promises to be a fun-filled evening for all participants.
