That's an unhappy cackle you hear from the Chesterton's Official Wicked
Witch of the West. She has just discovered that this year's Wizard of Oz
festival is giving tips on melting witches, and she's not happy.
The 24th Annual Wizard of Oz Festival is launching a new event this year
on Friday evening September 16, called OZapalooza. One of its twelve games
and activities is Melt the Wicked Witch. Co-chair Joe Baczinski just
smiles when asked how the game works. 'You'll have to come and see for
yourself,' he says.
Is he worried about consequences from the Wicked Witch? 'Well, we'll just
have to keep our squirt guns full,' Joe comments.
Zao Island in Valparaiso, Indiana is sponsoring and hosting OZapalooza and
is turning its two miniature golf courses into the Land of Oz as well.
Participants will play amongst Munchkinland flowers and meet characters
from the story, some of them eager to share their Oz wisdom.
A $10 per person ticket (adults and children) entitles the bearer to
participate in all of the games and activities and also includes a hot dog
and trimmings dinner. Adults may choose an entre other than a hot dog,'
Baczinski reports.
Zao Island's other activities will be open and available to Festival
participants at their regular fees.
OZapalooza runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zao Island, 1050 Horseprairie
Avenue in Valparaiso and promises to be a fun-filled evening for all
